Rouhani says Iran would ‘return back to 20 percent enrichment’

TEHRAN, May 11 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani has said Iran would return back to 20 per cent uranium enrichment ‘whenever necessary.’

President Rouhani who was addressing a meeting of operation of nuclear achievements in Atomic Energy Organization, congratulated ‘all scientists, authorities, and management of the Agency’ on what he called ‘bringing honor to the Islamic Republic of Iran.’

Rouhani told the meeting that the Islamic Revolution brought self-reliance that learned “us to rely on ourselves and invest hope in no other entity than God.”

He accused what he called ‘east and west’ of refusing to help Iran in nuclear program. “However, we launched building centrifuges and testing them by our own expert scientists. They told us they discovered that what Iran had done,” Rouhani said. “According to an agreement with the IAEA we were and are committed to cooperate with the Agency when we injected UF6 to centrifuges,” he added.

Rouhani dismissed the western demand that Iran should have reported its activity to the west, believing that no law and regulation required Iran to do so.

“We should persuade the public mentality; otherwise, the devils will mislead and misinform the world public opinion,” Rouhani said. “We would not concede even an inch; rather, we will work to take a step forward in politics and in enlightenment of the public,” he maintained.

President believed that the world tried hard to say that Iran had not achieved nuclear technology. “the global propaganda sought to denigrate Iranians, telling double lies at the same time; first, that we had not reached the technology, and the second that we concealed our achievements,” he added, and that “once upon a time, an eastern leader told me that you (Iranians) should believe that they could not produce UF6 since the process, he believed, was very long.”

Rouhani also told the meeting that “we want to show them that our activities remain in the framework guided by the NPT.”

“We are a nation not seeking nuclear weapons, and during the Imposed War, all powers armed our enemy to target us by chemical weapons, with thousands of casualties. Using chemicals is very easy,” Rouhani addressed the meeting.

“If they accuse us of building nuclear bomb, their claim would be baseless as a lie; we would not tolerate scientific apartheid and deem ourselves equal before international conventions; yet, we would not do any illegal and unlawful act,” emphasized the president.
